Sheriff's Biography
Sheriff Bob Merski was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, November 25, 1951 and has been a lifelong resident of Erie County.
Education:
Graduate of Tech Memorial: Class of 1970
Deputy Sheriffs' Training Academy: 1985
National Sheriffs' Institute: 2000
Vehicle Code and numerous other law enforcement training courses.
Law Enforcement Career:
Elected Sheriff of Erie County in 1997.
Prior to becoming Sheriff, served 16 years as a deputy sheriff - 10 years civil division and courtroom security, 6 years in the criminal warrant division.
Sheriff Merski is married to Carrie Amendola Merski and is the father of 7 children. He is a lifelong member of Holy Family Church.
